How Does Our Online TEFL Course Work?
Our 170-hour online TEFL course does not require any in-person training at all. All training, teaching practice, and class assignments will be completed online using Zoom, Google Drive, and Moodle.
Don’t worry if you haven’t used Zoom before. We will train you on how to navigate Zoom in advance of the online TEFL course start date and you will get plenty of practice using it, enabling you to become a proficient user and online English teacher.
With this being an accredited intensive online TEFL course, you should be prepared for 15-20 hours of training a week and an additional 2-3 hours per day devoted to reading and written assignments, lesson planning, and the course project.
This virtual TEFL course is divided into two components: course work and teaching practice. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a TQUK Level 5 Certificate in TEFL along with a transcript displaying two separate grades for the theoretical and practical components.
The course consists of:
170 hours of teacher training (this includes classwork, chapter readings, assignments, lesson planning, etc.)
10 hours of practicum (this includes observation and student teaching with actual English language learners.)

How Does Online Teaching Practice Work?
Our online teacher trainees will teach a minimum of 6 hours of teaching practice with at least two different levels. These live sessions will be done with actual students in groups of 2 to 8 adult students. You will receive one-to-one lesson planning support from one of your tutors. Your tutor will also observe your lesson and give you feedback on each online English class you teach.
You will also have the opportunity to observe your fellow teacher trainees and provide them with feedback on their online classes. All live teaching practice will be delivered via Zoom. In addition to teaching English online, this course will also prepare you to transfer these skills to teaching in-person English classes.
We are offering a special opportunity for those who enrol in our online TEFL course. You may complete one of your teaching practice sessions with either Young Learners and/or Business English students. There is a growing demand for English teachers in both these areas of TEFL and this is a great opportunity to get exposure with either group.
Online training sessions with Young Learners or Business English students are usually only offered as an additional course or workshop.
How Will I Be Assessed During the Online TEFL Course?
You will be continually assessed for the duration of our online TEFL course, which means there is no final exam. Various aspects of professionalism and rate of development are also taken into consideration.
You will be assessed in the following areas:
1. Teaching Practice
You will conduct your online English lessons for a minimum of 6 hours, with at least two different levels of adult students. Your overall performance will be assessed and the criteria to focus on for each of your lessons will be provided throughout the course.
2. Course Assignments
This online TEFL certificate course includes six written assignments and ten quizzes based on chapter readings and lesson planning. To help prepare you for establishing your own clients after the course, you will also complete an in-depth language learner project.
